As christians, our first and most prominent commandment is to “love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.” Mat. 22:37. But how can we find if our love has reached perfection?
1 John 4:18
There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
The fear here is not fear of God. Here the fear means fear of worldly calamities. Fear of food, or shelter or marriage or health or job. And perfection that comes from the love of Jesus will cast out that fear. Because fear has suffering and the one who suffers because of fear has not become perfect in the love of Jesus. The one who fears world’s powers, does not fear God.
