James 1:2-21

  1. My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;

Here the actual Greek word has meaning of trial also. And the context also shows it. When you long for marriage and you pray for it and God does not give it to you, it is your trial. You will never find out what you’re made of until you push yourself to the edge.

  1. Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.

So when you are still single, and you are longing to be not, you are learning patience. Rejoice. The one who goes to gym to practice, feels pain. But he rejoices. Because he knows he is making muscles. No pain, no gain!

  1. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

A real patient man in God, wants nothing. He has trust in the lord that he provides him everything he needs. That’s the perfect level. Let your trial make push you toward perfectionof your faith. Pain is gain.

  1. If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

Specially when you don’t understand why God does not listen to your prayers on finding a spouse, ask for wisdom. Wisdom gives you understanding of why is it and what is the purpose.

  1. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
  2. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.
  3. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

When you ask God for wisdom, trust the word of God. Don’t treat it like a scientific theory! Don’t say “let’s assume he is correct! Then this and that might happen. Otherwise the other thing might happen!”. God IS correct. Whatever he says happen, it happens. His promises never fail. Ask for his wisdom in faith if you truly want it.

  1. Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted:

When you don’t have what you want, be happy. Because it is the time of your growth. Like a flower that is still small. Or a child in his school days. These are the days of your growth. Enjoy it! If you don’t have the ability to start a family, when you don’t have enough money, or experience, or whatever needed for that, be happy. You’re on the best part of your growing curve.

  1. But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away.
  2. For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withereth the grass, and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.

But when you are rich in wisdom, experience, finances or anything else of necessities to form a family, when you think you deserve to be married, and you are still single, be happy. Because like a full grown flower that withers with sun heat, when you are on your pick, it is the point in the growth of your faith, when you must experience and learn to be humble. God is using this seemingly unfair situation in your favor to make you stronger.

  1. Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.

If you love God, show him your love by being loyal to him. Have you seen those prank videos when a wife sets up an attractive girl to temp her husband to see if the man is faithful to their relationship? Thus you must resist temptation for the love of God.

  1. Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:

Remember that your temptations are not from God. God did not want our ancestors to eat the fruit of knowledge since day one and in garden of Eden. From then, our nature changed to this sinful and mortal situation. This did not come from God, but from that serpent.

  1. But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
  2. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
  3. Do not err, my beloved brethren.

Remember to not ruin your faith and your relationship with God, on your journey through singleness. Do not succumb to your temptations. Resist.

  1. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

Similarly you can expect all that is from God to give your skills and power to do good.

  1. Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

So use your God given talents to do good as you are single. Ask married couples who has more time to work on projects for good? A married or a single?!

  1. Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:
  2. For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.

Don’t let your singleness push you to anger and bitterness and resentment. Don’t say anything to God that you might regret later.

  1. Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.

Stay away from following your temptations and sinning. Keep yourself holy. Spend your time with bible. Read it with humble mind to let it teach you the truth.

Now all the above might look like a text full of beautiful words. And you might scoff and think that at the end of all these beautiful rainbow and flowers, you are still single and God has not given you the love and romance you deserve to have! Listen to this word of wisdom my friend. Freely I received and freely I share with you:
At the time of this writing (September 21 2021), world around us is on the verge of massive change. A look at the news, whichever side of today’s heated argument that you agree with, the news is only worrying and horrifying. Is it better to be married and have children in middle of this storm? Or is it better to be a single, running after his own life?!

As the time goes by, situations change. Even population and gender ratio of society might change! The true value of a single man or woman, gifted with patience and wisdom is soon to be defined.

Any wise trader knows to not make a decision to buy or sell, before a large change is to come. Lest the price of everything changes and he might loose big time! Wait.

Bible has many records of chaos and political landslides:

Isaiah 4:1

And in that day seven women shall take hold of one man, saying, We will eat our own bread, and wear our own apparel: only let us be called by thy name, to take away our reproach.

And:

Isaiah 8:3-4

  1. And I went unto the prophetess; and she conceived, and bare a son. Then said the Lord to me, Call his name Maher–shalal–hash–baz. 4. For before the child shall have knowledge to cry, My father, and my mother, the riches of Damascus and the spoil of Samaria shall be taken away before the king of Assyria.

And from the book of Ruth: Ruth 1:11

And Naomi said, Turn again, my daughters: why will ye go with me? are there yet any more sons in my womb, that they may be your husbands?

Later in the same book:

Ruth 4:13-17

  1. So Boaz took Ruth, and she was his wife: and when he went in unto her, the Lord gave her conception, and she bare a son.
  2. And the women said unto Naomi, Blessed be the Lord, which hath not left thee this day without a kinsman, that his name may be famous in Israel.
  3. And he shall be unto thee a restorer of thy life, and a nourisher of thine old age: for thy daughter in law, which loveth thee, which is better to thee than seven sons, hath born him.
  4. And Naomi took the child, and laid it in her bosom, and became nurse unto it.
  5. And the women her neighbours gave it a name, saying, There is a son born to Naomi; and they called his name Obed: he is the father of Jesse, the father of David.

Once again, every good gift is from God. He can turn any period of chaos, famine, civil war, etc. to your benefit. Wait on him and show him your love, loyalty and trust by staying away from temptation and sin and by rejoice in your period of growth. Wait! The markets are changing!

Psalms 27:1-3
A Psalm of David

  1. The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
  2. When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.
  3. Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.
